: I just bought a new omega seamaster automatic.
: I love the watch.
: I am wondering how long before it needs to be
: serviced by omega? Like 5 years?
: also, how much does this servicing cost? Does
: the service refurbish the whole watch like
: Rolex does, or do I have to pay extra for
: that? (that is, putting a new bezel on if it
: is scratched, cleaing off scratches on the
: case and band, etc)
5 years is considered the average length of time your watch can go between servicings. If it is left unwound and isn't worn much, it can probably go longer. Currently Omega charges around US $300 for a full factory servicing, which does include fully disassembling the bracelet and polishing the entire watch to make it look like new. It also includes the pressure test for water tightness, replacing all the gaskets and lubricants, replacing any worn or damaged parts, etc. HOWEVER, a scratched bezel would not be replaced free of charge. They will polish the metal parts of the bezel, but if the painted insert is scratched you will need to pay for a new one if you want it replaced. Also, any damaged parts that may not be considered "normal wear and tear" will be invoiced separately. Omega will send you an invoice prior to beginning any work.
I hope this helps.
