Actually, I asked the same thing quite some time ago, and either John or Keith told me what I had already suspected, which was that it would cost too much to make a fake out of titanium, so there would be no point. In addition, I CAN tell you that milling, turning, and working with titanium is a royal bitch in general. It's a very tough, stringy metal, and if you grind it dry you get bright white sparks. If you grind it wet, when the grindings dry out they can ignite and give you something like a thermite bomb.

My personal opinion is that a titanium IS a pretty good way of avoiding fakes, and you can definitely tell the difference between Ti and aluminum. If you want, I can send you the name of an AD who sold me my 2293.52 at 30% off list, and you won't have to worry about fakes at all. BEWARE of E-BAY!!! There are NO AUTHORIZED internet dealers AT ALL!!!
