I'm a newbie here, but I routinely wear
In Response To: To repeat my point: ()

Omegas (PO orange bezel, SMP black dial) and Zodiacs (Super Sea Wolf, Seawolf II) to work in cubicle land. I'm pretty low ranking, but never get any sort of negative response to my watch. I have had co-workers and one boss notice my watches, and almost every one turned out to be a WIS of some degree or another. Those were pleasant experiences. I've only had one boss though, that was a rectum, and he would never have caught on to me wearing a "nice" watch. I was just there to advance his career, and whatever was on my wrist was immaterial.

From what I've seen, the other watch freaks will notice and usually open discussions with you. The none watch folks may be vaguely aware that you have something a little different on your wrist, but will not really pay attention unless they think it's a Rolex. Besides, where I'm at, most people are fully loaded with work, and don't spend a lot of time worrying about stuff like that.

PS: The lack of a viable career ladder in my job description also gives me a certain "who cares" attitude. If there is no carrot to nibble on, all you have to do is avoid getting whacked with the stick. So small details like somebody getting bent over my watch are meaningless.
