The shower issue sounds like a non-issue for 100 meter WR or greater Seamasters, at least from where I'm sitting. I follow the Omega site's recommended practice of soapy water and a toothbrush to clean mine (a PO and an SMP300), followed by a soft cotton towel to dry. Never a problem. Of course I do the same thing for all my water resistant watches, especially the 100M Seiko chrono that I wore for 15+ years. The Seiko didn't even have a screw down crown, but never leaked.
As for in the shower, I take mine off so I can get myself clean, to avoid soap scum build up, and to not take a chance of banging it on a tiled shower stall or metal door (I'm a clutz). The gym I go to is inside my workplace, and I'm not too concerned about someone getting past the lock on the locker.
But this brings up another question: Do you guys take your watch off when actually in the gym? I do, to protect the watch and to not chew up any of the pads on the Nautilus equipment. So what about the rest of you guys? To wear or not to wear in the gym, that is the question.
BTW, I think this is about my third post in the time I've lurked around the forum here. Great place, and very informative to someone like me.
