Maybe 7 years ago or so, a Pastor I was working with asked me what I'd really like to be doing as a divorce mediator. I said, "preventing divorce in the first place."
In all seriousness: Tell her straight up. My girlfriend knows what I'm all about; and I, her. She's a passionate advocate for animals, and you'd better believe she's altered our plans more than once when "need" came. Your story hits particularly close to home for me, Mike, as my Omega AD is also the place I went to get her "the" ring for Christmas this year.
Only I had to get past their Omega display case, w/ the 42mm orange-bezel Planet Ocean on a bracelet they'd just gotten in! Talk about a close call.
You might also consider picking up the current issue of Psychology Today, which has to do w/ keeping the sparks alive in marriage. The key is intimacy. Your Omega is who you are: Share that side of yourself w/ her fully here!
And since you're a 2054.50 guy (I'm a 2254.50, w/ the Bond bracelet switched over to it while I decide whether or not to buy a permanent replacement), we are kindred spirits.
Heck, why not offer to let her wear your 2054.50 while she waits? In my mind, there is no greater act of intimacy and symbol of devotion than to let the one you love get a little wrist action from your personal chronometer.
I've done it myself -- but w/ only one special woman....
