In Response To: Observation of post Xmas ()

We have 2 ADs here in Ann Arbor, and I've been to both of them since Christmas.

One had the black Planet Ocean in both sizes, orange bezel in 42mm only. But said they'd just gotten them in on Monday (ie, December 26). The other only had the larger-sized, black bezel; said he'd sold the one orange 42mm he'd gotten in w/in a day of receiving it (before Christmas), and that his replacement was on order.

One of them implied that distributors are a random factor in deliveries for Omega.

For what it's worth, my 2004 Christmas gift to self was to have been the Carrera Evolution 1:32 scale Aston Martin DB5 slot car (25735). My dealer had a larger order for both the car alone, and the Goldfinger set (25901); placed well-before Thanksgiving.

No deliveries to anyone in our area, however, until almost Valentine's Day. Worked out well for me. Unfortunately, I've found this to be all-too familiar a scenario.

I guess we'll see how Omega sales and marketing sets itself to ride whatever promotional wave it has set for the Casino Royale tie in. In some ways, I'm holding off on making my Planet Ocean decision until we get final word on any possible change to "the Bond watch." On the other hand, it will surely be known w/in a month or so when filming begins, and my guess is that a lot of us will buy early -- if it's a new watch and Omega has it in stock.

Big potential, if played correctly.
