Re: Vintage worth refurbishing?
In Response To: Vintage worth refurbishing? ()

Reurbishing alone can cost anywhere from US$150 to US$500. My personal opinion is that it really depends how much you are personally attached to the watch. It sounds as if your watch is in pretty dire condition, so I'm pretty sure that more 'unforeseen' costs will show up. Maybe you should just take your watch to a GOOD repairshop and have them give you a cost estimate so that you will approximately know how much you will be spending. On a positive note, Georges, (this forum's movement expert :-)) always stresses how far superior Omega's vintage movements are in comparison to the newer movements, so you might also take that into consideration.

: I have a vintage Omega Seamaster I believe to
: be from the '50's or '60's. It is similiar
: to this
: http://artoftime.com/images/124218.jpg but
: plated in yellow gold and without the
: chronometer. I am considering whether or not
: to refurbish it. It has been adjusted
: numerous times over the years because the
: mechanism keeps jamming. The crystal is also
: fairly scratched, the gold leaf flaked and
: it does not have the original strap. I am
: wondering how much it would likely cost to
: refurbish and if it is even worth it to make
: the investment.

: Thank you in advance!
