: I have a speedmaster 3513.30, which I bought
: second hand, it is a year old, but was never
: worn, and was kept in box. I've been wearing
: it for a few weeks now, and I notice that
: the phosphors on the hands are only visible
: if it's very dark in the room, or if I hold
: it beside a light for a while, it will stay
: very bright, but not for too long. My
: friend's seamaster phosphors are much
: brighter. Anyone know what the reason for
: this may be?
As much as I hate to say this, I believe Omega lacks consistency in the amount of luminova they apply to their markers, or their luminova supplier's quality control is a bit off. I have tested several of my Omegas by holding them under a bright light for 30 seconds and then following the intensity and duration of the glow. My Bond SMP glows like a bomb blast and stays that way forever. None of my others get as bright or stay bright quite as long.
I think you have a watch that doesn't have enough luminova or one with poor quality luminova. Since the watch is still under warranty, you could try sending it back to Omega. Perhaps they will replace the dial with a more luminous one.
