: Steve,
: What are the benefits and disadvantages between
Please let me start by saying I'm not a watchmaker.
AFAIK the main differences between a quartz & mechanical movement is the way the gears in the watch are driven.
With a quartz watch the "power" comes from a Battery & a "vibrating" quartz crystal.
With a mechanical watch the power comes from a spring ( that is either wound manually or automatically via a rotor ).
The date change is a mechanical function & quite independant of the source of power for the watch.
& that is about the limit of my "watchmaking" knowledge.
Where is (Richard ) "West Repairs" when you need him ?
Steve
: quartz, mechanical (quick) and mechanical
: slow date changes?
