As many of you know, I've been tracking the precision accuracy of my Seamaster 2254.50 for 61 days now. As it's passed the 30 seconds fast mark, I'm noting the time on the "up" swing of the second hand, from the 6 o'clock to the 12 o'clock position.
But a week or so, I tracked it around through the "down" swing, ie, 12 o'clock to 6 o'clock position via the second-hand. And I noted something odd. Consistently, minute after minute, it was running a certain time when traveling "up," and 0.25 seconds slow when traveling "down."
Can't say for sure what times of day it happens more during. And it doesn't happen all the time. But during my routine check between 2:45 and 3:45pm, it varied like a pendulum: "Up," +49.25 seconds, "down," +49.00 seconds.
Of all the things that bother me, this isn't among them. But it is fascinating, and I was curious if anyone else had seen anything like this. If so, w/ what movements (mine has the 1120 caliber)?
Theories as to why this might be happening?
