I spoke to my AD today to confirm that my Aqua Terra is on its way, and he gave me an update from Omega. His Omega rep informed him that the price increase will probably NOT be across the board. In fact, it seems targeted mostly at the Seamaster line. Only the Bond and black SMP's have been confirmed as going from $1995 to $2150. The Planet Ocean will be going up an average of $200 according to the rep. No other specific models were mentioned.
The rep told my dealer that Omega spends more advertising dollars on the SMPs and the Planet Ocean, as these are the most popular models. Thus, Omega feels they can justify the price since people will pay it, and also because they need to recoup their advertising dollars by raising prices on the models they heavily promote.
Of course, who knows what will REALLY happen in a couple of weeks, but this was the latest news from my AD.
Oh, regarding the rumor that Omega will be making the Bond SMP co-axial this spring, the rep knew NOTHING about this. He said that Omega would typically unveil a new model at Basel or another watch fair and not just "throw it out there" with no advance publicity.
