Marketing is King. I would not say that Omega is trying to copy Rolex, more that they are trying to sell more watches. Rolex obviously has pumped so much into marketing that it is widely recognized to the general public as the finest watch made. If Omega is taking a page out of the Rolex book, then why not. Rolex's strategy has worked very well for Rolex. Maybe it can work for Omega too. And if successful at it, the Omega brand will be more widely recognized, thus increasing the overall value of the line, and ultimately the resell value.
