: I know what you mean Lee. I live in Bolton and
: if I were to ask for a discount they would
: laugh at me too. The problem I see here in
: the UK is that the only authorised dealers
: tend to be big chain stores in big expensive
: shopping centres where the sales people just
: aren't allowed to give discount and the
: prices are the same in every shop. Maybe in
: other towns there are smaller independant
: dealers that you can get to know but
: unfortunately the watch places i go to tend
: to be full of young sales people just out of
: college that you might only see once until
: they get a better job
Dave, how true mate !
in the UK, it is almost as if they are doing you a favour by lettting you buy a watch ...and as you say,Goldsmiths and all the big chains seem to employ spotty youths who have no actual knowledge of the watches, apart from "it looks nice" and all they want to do is put your money in the till !
i am lucky in that i have made a contact through work who owns a couple of jewellers in Essex and he just so happens to be an Omega A.D ... i am gonna start working on him in the lead up to my next purchase !
he already has my bond seamaster which he is servicing and re-polishing the case and bracelet "as a favour',
i guess if no discount is forthcoming from him then i may wait until my next trip to the states.... where in the US is your AD located John ?
