Customs Duties Are The Problem...
In Response To: Discounts ()

: I am not sure what the pound is currently worth
: in the US or if John's AD (New York) would
: ship out of the US, but it may be worth the
: e-mail to see what shipping would run you,
: as John R's AD gives great discounts.
: If dealers would not give a discount or match
: the US price and the shipping was not to
: much, then I would buy from John's AD and
: save some money!!
: Just my two cents!!

The real problem is actually the customs duties. On commercial merchandise I believe UK buyers are subject to a 17% VAT tax on imports (please correct me if I'm wrong on that amount). I know that my dealer doesn't ship overseas because:

1) The import duties don't make it worthwhile for the buyer.

2) The extra hassles and costs of trying to ship and insure a watch for international shipment only add to the extra costs that international buyers have to incur.
