: John,
: that is a good question actually. i was over in
: NYC last year and i thought about taking
: advantage of the strong English Pound by
: purchasing a watch whilst in the states. i
: checked a couple of largish dealers, and
: also checked the watch dept in Macy's , and
: by my reckoning when converting the $ back
: to £ , the watches did seem to be more
: expensive than in the UK.sometimes nearly
: £200gbp(380USD) more expensive..... make of
: this what you will, but perhaps it would
: explain the relative ease you guys manage to
: get discounts
Lee,
It's just been my experience that if something is almost always discounted, the starting price is set a little high to start with. Sort of like cars and MSRP. But it is entirely possible that US prices include a longer distance for shipment, and probably some additional hassles with customs and duties.
