Re: Tom Cruise's Omega
In Response To: Tom Cruise's Omega ()

: Just rented the remake of War of the Worlds and
: saw that Tom Cruise wears an Omega
: chronograph in several scenes. In one scene
: it gets its own close-up as he taps it,
: wondering why it isn't working.

: Sorry if this is already common knowledge
: 'round here, but just wanted to point out
: the fact that if it was an automatic
: chronometer, why would it stop working
: during the alien-sent EMP?!

: Great and very very helpful website by the way!

: Cheers,

You're right, the model Tom was wearing is an auto. This is has been a known glitch in the movie. But I don't know how well an auto watch would keep time after an EMP blast (magnetized or something). The producers claim that the main character 'forgot' to wind the watch and it stopped coincidently.....
