Re: What's up with these Invicta watches?

Since I'm familiar with the Invicta line, especially the dive watches, I'll add my two cents FWIW. The Invicta 9937 you refer to does indeed contain the Swiss ETA2824 movement. Invicta used to put the word "Swiss" in the dial of this watch but probbly got into trouble and changed it to "Swiss movement". The actual factory is elsewhere and suspected to be in Asia but is not known to my knowledge.

As for quality, it's a very good watch. I have one (have owned two) and it is well built. Case and bracelet are very heavy and bracelet is actually on par with R____ or nicer. Crystal is sapphire and bracelet links are solid including the end link (SEL). The display back shows the ETA2824 movement with gold highlights. Accuracy is not COSC but is usually better than 15 or 20 seconds fast when new. This 9937 is available with both the scalloped and the coin edge bezel.

I don't know how they sell this watch for less than $300 (MSRP is $625, I think). I use mine for a beater and have given it a lot of use including boating and swimming. IMO it's one of the best homage watches available. There have been some quality issues with Invicta over the years but this particular model seems to have avoided the problems.

Hope this proves informative for some.
