I also own the 2254.50 and I wouldn't worry about it. Neither would I make it a habit.

After researching the topic pretty thoroughly for my own benefit, the analogy I would use would be grinding the gears when you shift on a manual automobile transmission. Those gears, like the gears in the 1120 caliber mechanism in your Seamaster, are more robust than that.

But not so robust that you can repeat what you've done indefinitely.

For what it's worth, my 2254.50 snaps from one day to the next some time between 11:55pm and 12:05am (actually, closer than that, but it's not something I've monitored). So the 8:00pm to 2:00am caveat you're reading about on page 16 of the Instructions gives them a lot more latitude that I've experienced in practice.

You're in the right place to get further, more techical feedback on this. But I thought I'd weigh now in hopes of relieving your worry (as I would have been worried) until others weigh in.
