Re: New To Forum - 2254.50 Date Question

If your watch is ok now then I guess you've 'gotten away with it' but I would certainly advise against doing it in the future.
I own a Speedmaster Date which is a chronograph so maybe that makes a difference, but when I set the date at around 11:00 (I thought it was 11:00 am because I hadn't worn it for a few days and had just set the time without much thought) the date indicater got stuck between two dates! It stayed that way until that night when I tried going counter-clockwise with the minute hand to midnight the day before. That seemed to work and I was so pleased with myself that I posted on this forum about my experience.
The next day at around 9:00 pm I realized that all was not well. The date was advancing at 9pm as opposed to around midnight. That's when I sent it in for servicing.
The bottom line is , it's definitely a potentially damaging action and really should be avoided.
Hope this helps and enjoy your new watch, it's a beauty!
