As I'm sure the die hards know already, Casino Royale started lensing yesterday. And, w/out putting too fine a point on it: Scenes where any other James Bond would be expected to wear his 007 Omega.
Yet, inexplicably, the official word I received upon inquiry to the Omega press office this morning is as follows: "...in the coming months we will issue a press release regarding this matter...."
So-- to those of you w/ whom I've exchanged eMails over the past week regarding making purchases before the rumored price increase, there's your answer. I am also willing to put money on the fact that we'll actually see the watch for ourselves on Entertainment Tonight (or whatever the current TV tabloid is these days), and thus am beyond disappointed by these seeming lack of public relations saavy on the part of our brand.
My goodness: Ford Motor Company is laying off 30,000 people (for what that says of their business situation), and they have managed to have their product placement investment working overtime (and apparently undistracted by other Bond-affiliated products) with Aston Martin DBS news everywhere you look.
