: Since a brand like Omega is partly based upon
: exclusivity (ie not everyone can afford to
: buy one) does Omega have an official policy
: about discounts from authorised dealers? Do
: they actively discourage discounts? Can
: dealers be "struck off" for
: continually giving discounts etc?
: Cheers, Darren
Omega probably does have some written policy but I doubt it's enforced. Think about it - a dealer who gives good discounts and sells lots of watches for Omega is generating MORE money for Omega. An authorized retailer pays Omega 55% of MSRP for a watch regardless of whether he gives the customer no discount or a 30% discount. So, if an AD can sell more watches by giving great discounts, do you really think Omega is going to "crack down" on them for generating TOO MANY SALES????? The discount comes out of the dealer's bottom line, NOT Omega's.
To be realistic, Omega isn't even cracking down on gray market dealers, so why would they actively try to get their authorized dealers to turn away sales by NOT giving discounts?
