Dont worry, as soon as you get one on your wrist, you will instantly want another one.
As to the model choice, it is purely a personal choice. There has been rumor that the 2254.50 is going to be phased out, as it seems the Planet Ocean is going to be the successor. So, why not go ahead and include the PO as a choice as well. I can give you 2c worth on the blk PO and the 2054.50 as I own both.
My take on the 2054.50 is that the bracelet is fantastic, but I dont think that bracelet is available as an option any more. The lume of the 2054 is as good as you will see anywhere, and it certainly is a great option $wise. My only gripe of the 2054 is the lack of applied hour markers, but lo and behold, they are on the Planet ocean. In my opinion, this makes a dial look a bit more polished. I will tell you this though that I considered selling the 2054 after I got my PO, but just cant part with it because it is a beautiful watch as well.
As for the Chrono's you mentioned. Those are some heavy bulky watches. If you have the hocks to wear those, I would say go for it, because you will appreciate the chrono function. I went a different route so I can add a dressier chrono to the collection later. My wrists are too small to wear a chrono diver.
Good luck with your decision and Im glad you will be selecting an Omega.
