Hi Robert,
that's a great looking speedy that you have there.

However can I please ask you ( & use your thread to ask ALL other posters here ) NOT to post pictures containing weapons.

This is obviously a subject which has been discussed between Jeff Stein ( the current website owner), Chuck Maddox, Keith & Myself. We have all agreed that we don't want weapons to be featured on the forum.

Chuck had a passage in his Here are the new moderators / Under New management post which says ( I quote - underline added by me

Our goal, is to keep Forum something that Derek would have enjoyed participating in, fun, informative, free, polite and family friendly. And further continue this discussion forum and hopefully to build and expand Chronocentric as needs and interests direct.

Hi Steve,

Please allow me to clarify, expand and explain my thoughts on the topic.

I don't consider weapons to be family friendly.

It's not just that, but they aren't especially forum friendly. Let me explain...

In contrast to Steve and Keith (I don't know about Jeff), I am a gun owner. I have a collection (I consider modest, while others might (over-exagerate and) call an arsenal) that would likely make most gun collectors get "may I examine that one and that one and oh! that one!?"-itis.

Thus, far from being Anti-Gun, I am Pro-Gun rights. I can't go so far to be "Pro-Gun" as I do not believe everyone should have one.

That said, I've never felt any need to post pictures of any of the firearms I own, have owned or coveted. That is not why I'm here.

While I personally have no major difficulties personally with watches, particularly with a military background, being posed with various paraphenalia that is associated with that military background (which would likely include knife(s) and/or firearms) or if the items are part of a currently active member of police and or military unit's "Kit", other people in other watch discussion forums have expressed discomfort at such displays in the past. I personally feel that regardless of my personal feeling's/beliefs that in the spirit of being a good neighbor I shall respect their feelings.

Which is why you'll likely never see me post a picture of a watch with a firearm, a picture of a watch with cutlery (unless it's a Swiss Army Knife which I believe just about everyone would see as benign), or a firearm or cutlery photo (except again for the aforementioned S.A.K.) solo.

I have removed at least one of the replies, which IMHO just posted unneccessary gun Info.

I saw the post in question, understand your feelings/reasons and support your action(s) Steve...

I will let the rest of this thread stand, but EVERYONE, please don't post weapons in the future.

I really doubt that anyone wants to engage in the kind of guideline/rule wrangling that consumed the TimeZone Omega Forum for the bulk of last week. I don't think there is any need to.

However, I too would like to encourage restraint when it comes to the posting pictures and graphics of Knifes/Guns in this forum. We're here to talk about Watches, ok, and associated subjects: like NASA (because of the Moonwatch connection), Bond (because of the Omega/Bond connection), motorsports (because of chronograph/timer use in motorsports, in fact non-motor sporting events like the Olympic's too! We don't seek the devolution of this forum into a Gun's and Knife's forum. If folks here seek discussion of firearms or cutlery I'm sure there are forums devoted to those topics. I even know of a forum who's stated mandate is to : "This forum is for discussing all kinds of topics including Watches, Cars, Cigars, Wine, Beer, Babes, Firearms, Knives, Photography, Golf, Motorcycles, Martial Arts, Fountain Pens, Audio and Video equipment, the Obscene, " and then it get's into topics that are decidedly not family friendly. E-Mail me for a link if you're so inclined.

Lastly, I'll mention that the founder and creator of this forum, Derek Ziglar, comitted suicide via a Handgun less than 9 months ago. I personally think it is in exceedingly bad taste to be posting pictures of firearms in this forum out of respect to his widow and parents.

I doubt I have to put a sharper point on the topic than that.

Well, lets just say that weapons are significatly regulated here. If ya post a picture of a firearm here, assume it's exceedingly likely that the post or at least the graphic will be pulled in fairly short order.

Don't get your nickers bent out of shape if ya post such graphics willy-nilly and they are pulled.

And finally.... even "James Bond" agrees, so it must be OK. click on the following link to read the article

Bond Daniel Craig hates guns

And before anyone asks... I'm sure it won't be long until we see pictures of the new 007 wielding a firearm appear on the web. It's mainly up to Keith and Steve how they handle posts made here with such imagery... but I suspect if the topic of the post is 007's watch or the film, or the actor, the post will probably remain intact, however if the topic (moderator's descretion) is firearm related, it's likely at significant risk of being pulled.

That's just an observation (at least at this point)...

In closing, I'd like to state that it's my observation that there are a number of topics that are exceedingly polarizing when they come up in discussion: Religion, Politics, Abortion are the three biggies. Firearms are probably at or near the top of the next tier in terms of contention. Let's not lose sight of the reason we are here, watches, and let more devisive topics ruin our little haven from those discussions...

Respectfully towards all!
