I agree to what John said in the above. It all boils down to how much you care (appreicate is a better word) about mechanical watches and the history behind them. For a majority of us here, we buy these expensive watches not becuase of accuracy, but because of history, where electronics don't fit into the equation. It's amazing how engineers can make a pile of gears and springs work in tandem to create absolute harmony. COSC spec makes these timepieces extremely accurate (+6 secs at the worst, with around 86400 secs in a day, that translates to 99.99% accuracy! How in the h*ll can they do that!). You treat a mechanical watch more like a son (or a daugther if you prefer it that way) than a quartz one because every one of them is unique! For me, I like the 'smooth' sweep of the second hand instead of the 'jurk' that comes with quartz models.

But it's all up to YOU and your needs (remember quartz are FAR more accurate and lst much longer and are much cheaper to maintain). I hope that I didn't put too much peer pressure onto you!!!
