: Hi guys,
: I just got back from a business trip in Gold
: Coast, Aus. and I can see quite a bit of
: condensation inside the crystal of my
: Speedmaster Date. I did wear it in the ocean
: but I was just relaxing in the surf. I know
: it's not a dive watch but it is good to a
: depth of 30 meters and with that in mind I
: figured it would be fine to wear it (I left
: my wallet on the beach but I wouldn't leave
: my watch!).
: Has anyone else had this happen? What should I
: do?
: Thanks in advance!
This has been the subject of many a discussion on here and other forums. The question being - just how water resistant is my Speedy? Some people claim to swim with theirs and have no problem, while others recommend not getting it wet.
30M water resistance does not make it a suitable diving watch, and its lack of a screw-in crown really doesn't make me feel comfortable using it in the water. Just my opinion for what it's worth....
As to your problem, since you obviously have condensation inside, I would take it to a local qualified watchmaker ASAP or send it back to Omega if you don't have one. You'll have to pay the bill, but your watch needs to be dried out and checked to ensure that no further damage has been done.
