Re: Condensation in my Speedy
In Response To: Re: Condensation in my Speedy ()

: Thanks for all the advice guys!

: I guess I'll be sending it in for servicing
: just to be safe. John, do you think I'll
: have to pay for the servicing even though
: it's still under warranty and the watch is
: rated for 30 meters of water resistance?
: Seems to me that this just shouldn't have
: happened.

I can't answer with a definitive YES or NO since this will be at Omega's discretion. However, I think that if you write them a polite note explaining that you didn't do more than get it splashed a bit in the ocean (and not diving with it), and that you were shocked to find the condensation inside afterwards, they may fix it under warranty and include a letter explaining exactly what you can and can't do with the watch when it comes to water. If you tell them how much you love the watch and the Omega brand, etc., this may make them more than likely to fix it just to keep you happy.

In fact, if you do get an explanation on water resistance from Omega, please share it with us. As I said, Speedy water resistance has been an ongoing debate, and no one seems to have a definitive answer as to exactly how water resistant it is.

Good luck,
John
