Cal.1120 has quick set date. you should be fine.
I think the 9p~3a rule applies to movements such as Valjoux 7750, for which you cannot even change the date without forcing it. If you do force it, then you are risking damage.
No need to panic. That said, it's not a good idea to change date at late hours, especially when you see the date starts changing.
