I bought my first Omega Seamaster in 1998, This was my first watch of "that next level" after having a couple of Tag Heuers. I then bought an used Speedmaster off of the "bay" I loved these watches but I then started wondering about the more expensive lines of watches that one always hears about.
I then bought a Submariner and a GMT II in 2000 and then sold them in 2003 and stepped into Panerai territory and I bought and sold 4 different Panerai and still own a 188. What is sad is, no matter how many or which models I had, I never seemed to be happy with them. Especially since most Panerai owners seem to not like to wear them on a daily basis but just take pictures of them and trade for others.
So now we are here in 2006, I am down to one watch after selling off almost every other high end watch I have had and was looking at the Jaeger LeCoultre compressor line. I have always trolled the omega forums though, and searched them on eBay "just to look"
Soooooo I have been hitting the watch shops around DFW. While walking into a pre owned watch shop there it was, a freshly serviced Ti, Seamaster Chronograph. Well, I purchased this watch without hesitation (saving me some $$$ over a JLC too)
After wearing it for a couple of weeks I have come to a couple of conclusions.
1. Dollar for dollar, Omega is probably the best watch out there.
2. Build quality is second to none, as is styling
3. I get more satisfaction out of a watch that I can wear everyday without worry.
4. Having multiple watches is GREAT but I would rather have one or two that I LOVE to wear than 4 or so that are beautiful but feel “meh” about.
So I come back to you all with my head held low. I cheated on my “first love” but now am back. Please welcome me back to the fold.
My only regret (if it can be called that)is that I spent that money on the Ti Sea master chrono and not a 321 cal. speedmaster to restore.
