I'm amazed & disappointed at Omega...

Hi Guys,

check out the following pics...( Blatantly lifted from an eBay auction )

Now for those of you who don't know what we are looking at here, this is a FAKE.

a few of the tell tale signs.

- Pointed A in wAterproof on the case back.
- Stubies on the dial ( see the little lines between the luminous markers & the outside of the dial ? )
- no "frame" around the date window.
- a 562 movement... never offered in this watch.
- funny how the numbers & long markers on the bezel are all identically "faded"
- The 6 & 9 on the dial should have "open" loops

So now you're thinking... "yeh, so what ANOTHER fake Seamaster 300 in the Bay", BUT look at THIS picture

This shows the watch on a Certificate of Authenticity, that was issued by Omega, Switzerland themselves !!

These certificates were recently given away in Germany, All you had to do was to take a Seamaster to a flagship store & they'd take a few pics, send them to Omega in Switzerland & after a few weeks, you get this great certificate FREE !

So Omega have authenticated a fake. That is really disapponting !

The certificate even states that it is a 562 movement, that was sold in 1960 as a replacement movement.

The certificate states the case number is 166.024, but the case back has 613288 SC stamped on it ( according to the auction text )

The seller even has text stating something like

"This model is often faked & unknowingly offered by our competitors as a genuine watch. For the safety of our customers we have obtained a Certificate of Autheticity from Omega."

I think I have seen everything now :-(

Be careful out there.

Steve
