something proven vs something new
In Response To: Rolex vs Omega ()

Hi

The coaxial is judged too new to be fully reliable as compared to the 3135 and its derivatives which have already 18 years of existence and which were fully tested in various hostile conditions by professionals. The rolex movement is a jeweled pivot selfwinding movement of better quality than the eta 2892a2 a ball rotor selfwinding movement. The rolex movement is of bigger dimensions and also of far more solid construction. An eta 2892-a2 costs $175 in its raw form add some other let's say $200 for modifications are made by eta not by omega and you have a movement for approximatively $375 which is subject to the sudden stop as it was the case in some seamaster professionals an devilles. I have never heard this problem on the 3135 or its derivatives. Rolex is rolex 400% manufacture really worth the investment, Omega isn't what it used to be with the Hayek/Eta era.
All depends of your tastes, financial means and what do you want exactly. There is another option besides rolex, the chopard diver with the luc pro one movement, the rest of the divers like the blancpain 50 fathoms or the hublot special diver are very expensive and not the best.

good luck

regards

georges
