Re: A warning about "trade show announcements"

But Dell, you're missing the whole point of trade shows: "Booth babes" clad in aything from spandex to black leather teddies! (Seriously!!) After that, few if any attendees can even remember the name of the product that was being sold, but a good time is had by all, and reservations pour in for next year's show.

BTW - for female dominated trade shows, such as AORN, they have "Booth beef" instead. Somebody with Fabio's face AND body acting as a live mannequin for surgical skin preps is always there.

On sadly more serious note, Omega actually appears to be on pace to eclipse what historically has to be the most overblown and pre-announced product introduction, which was the OS/2 operating system for the old IBM AT. (Originally a 10 megahertz 80206 processor with a 20 MEG hard drive and the FULL 640K of memory.) From the time of the original announcement, it was nearly a full DECADE before IBM got the full 32 bit flat address space NT4 operating system running.

The smartest thing Omega could do right now is to not show up at Basel at all. I don't know about the rest of you, but I don't need anymore cheap drama in my life, particularly when it comes to watches...
