I bought a 2531.80 from this dealer in October '05, before I had discovered this site and TZ. After learning more about the gray market, like you, I became a little concerned. I sent the serial number in to Omega, and they responded by telling me it was in fact one of theirs. I've had it for almost five months now, and it's--knock on wood--still running great--well within COSC, +/- 1-3 seconds per day, depending on how I lay it down at night. And every couple of days it's spot on. I don't think you should worry.
