moonwatch & advice for newbie

hello friends...

what a great site! does that net have everything you want to know or what???!!

here is my tale and i ask for your assistance. i purchased as my first 'real watch' a cartier vermiel watch some 15 years ago. it had a nice classic look when the world was in a rolex frenzy.
its been good to me albeit is FAR from water resistant. anyway... i am bored with the watch and would like to move up to the big time.

i have fallen in love with the omega moonwatch for its mechanics, appearance and history and i think it will be my next purchase although i would rather a rolex stainless oyster which i can nigh afford.

some questions for the group:

1. can i get a new moonwatch with the old 'rolex style' band? i have hairy arms i have heard this can be a problem w/ old style band?

2. can i get the watch w/ some other style bezel besides 'tachymeter' -what the he__ is this for anyway? cant drive/fly and look at your watch at the same time eh?

3. i travel in asia a lot. currently i am making my way through the indonesian island chain. does anyone know of where i can get a cut rate price in asia from authorized dealer (BKK/HKG?). i have found even in 'duty free' countries -still cheaper to buy in USA. should i buy off the net?

4. any idea what my cartier is worth. i just replaced the crystal, case has mild wear on the edges, new band (non cartier), have orig box. watch is about 15 yrs old?

* i fear the only way i can afford the moonwatch (esp w/ sapphire back) is on the grey market. i am ok with the company wty but i MUST have the serial intact.

comments and advice please ...please email me the connections here in indonesia suck some times i cannot get to the web at all...

THANKS!!

m. vetare
