Re: What was your first Omega ?
In Response To: What was your first Omega ? ()

I bought my SMP (full size, auto, electric blue, bond bracelet) from "Keith's dealer" in Jan '01 after doing extensive research about what fine watch I wanted after my original WIS "stint" with Rolex about 7 years before. I still have that watch and it runs like a champ.

I found out about the model from this website...I think. My initial interest in the Omega brand came from a small AD in Portland Maine, back in the late 1990s.

There was (and still is!) just something special about that electric blue face. I had owned a bunch of Rolexes (GMT, Expl 1, non-date Sub, numerous vintage Datejusts), a Heuer (non-TAG), and a great Seiko dive watch before. That blue face is a great departure from the ordinary dive watch. Not quite as diver-utilitarian, but one of my favorites in the entire "diver class" at any price.
