The DeVille is more of a dress watch and isn't designed for things like swimming, playing sports, etc. You need something more rugged like a Seamaster or Speedmaster for those things. It will be fine for general daily wear, but I would buy yourself a cheap "beater" watch if you need something to wear to do yard work, swim with, etc. This is really the kind of watch you wear when you aren't going to get dirty or do anything physical.
