I have the same problem in Germany

I have a Constellation Automatic that I need to send to Omega (I live in Canada and intended to send it to the Canadian service centre).
It seems that very few shippers will insure the watch for anywhere near its value. Does anyone have any suggestions?
Many thanks in advance - Derek.

Hi Derek,
I have the same problem here in Germany. The normal postal service, will not insure for more than 500 Euros without levying a large charge & if your read the small print, watches are explicitly excluded !

I have sent via Fedex & UPS, but they also charge ridiculous amounts ( around 100 Euros ).

I usually take a risk & send my items via the nromal postal service with Registered post. This is traceable & has to be signed for on receipt.

There is still no insurance, but at least you can find out what happened ( should a problem occur ).

In 5 years of serious watch collecting ( I have unfortunately sold a couple too :-( ) I have only ever had 1 watch dissappear. It was coming to me from the USA.

Finally 1 last suggestion. Why don't you call the Canadian service centre & ask them what they recomend, how they return watches. They must have a lot of experience.

Let us know how you get on.

Steve
