Rolex introduced the microstella in 1957, the 19800 bph calibers were the 1570-1575-1585 (often considered as references and often as the very best from rolex in terms of vintage movement) the first 28800bph rolex movements intorduced in 1977 were the 3030-3035-3000 and 3085 movements considered as the best 28800bph calibers available alongwith cal 101x-102x from Omega.Rolex has introduced its last generation of 28800bph movements in 1988, the 3130, 3135 and 3185, they have been considred as a reference since their introduction.Rolex movements have a very good durability and their winding system allows an optimal lubrication over very long periods.
It is like comparing a 1999 cadillac eldorado (built like a tank)and car like a 1999 mercedes 500sel (very unreliable engine). The cadillac wins because of the northstar and its general reliability. The northstar only requires an oil change every 165000km, great advantage over the competitors.
