Re: I thought you might like to know
In Response To: I Completely Disagree... ()

: Classic design, yes. Superior? Absolutely not.
: The oyster bracelet is a joke compared to
: Omega bracelets, and even most Rolex owners
: who actually ARE watch enthusiasts will
: admit this. The cyclops date magnifier is
: hated by as many people as those that like
: it. Omegas designs look far more modern than
: anything Rolex makes.

: Give me a break!!! I owned a Sea Dweller and
: sold it because I liked the look and feel of
: my Bond SMP better. To imply that we are
: "settling" for an Omega is
: ludicrous. Some of us just realize that
: Rolex is grossly overpriced and don't want
: to waste our money on a "status
: symbol". We want the best value for the
: money, and Omega is the clear winner here.

: I'm being honest, too. However, it does get
: sickening when people imply that those of us
: who buy Omega are "too poor" to
: afford a Rolex. I CHOOSE not to buy a Rolex
: despite the fact that I could easily afford
: one. My money is a terrible thing to waste,
: and spending that much money just for a
: status symbol is not something that
: interests me at this point in my life.

I thought you might like to know what we pay for watches in Canada.

The MRSP of an Aqua Terra and a Sub for example(without 7% tax and/or discount which typically is 20% for the Omega) is US$3478 and US$5500 respectively.

This obviously influences resale value quite a bit.

I don't own any Rolexes simply because I'm not attracted to them. I do respect the brand however
and admire their astute advertising and business acumen.

I suppose it costs a lot of money to stay independent.
