Re: The REAL REASON!!!
In Response To: The REAL REASON!!! ()

i've been following this discussion with great interest over the last week. i own 2 omega speedys and love them. however, i am probably less of a die hard fan as the rest of you chaps, so i feel relativley inpartial and feel in a position to make a good judgement on the situation. i came to a simple conclusion; clearly they have both earnt their excellent reputations by making quality watches. it is not a contradiction in terms to say i have the upmost respect for both companies.

unfortunately, however, after the most recent posting from 'watch guy', i feel we've all wasted our time some what, for he clearly doesn't own 3 rolexes, is never going to buy a patek and has definitely never had an omega! he does not speak with the same universal respect for quality pieces as the rest of you display, he lacks the balanced and fair opinions the more knowledgeable of you show or simply the etiquette that one would hope a collector would acquire over the years.

i feel the discussion has come to a premature end because the distinguished and educated members of this forum have accepted 'watch guy' under his false personna of some sort of watch connoisseur, when in reality, he blatantly has not ever seen a real omega or rolex. it is not a case of bad intentions but rather ignorance, he is misinformed or even uninformed. i have full confidence that when the poor chap sees a real omega or rolex, he will come to the same conclusion we all have. in regards to the car analogy, can one compare a ford gt40 to a ac cobra....no, they are both awesome machines in their own right. to all the rolex and omega owners, congratulations on your fabulous watches and i look forward to listening and learning from your intriguing discussions.

kind regards, kaivan

: Clearly my first post in this forum was
: completely misunderstood.

: I did not mean to disrespect the whole
: community.
: I'm sure that most of you, if not all, can
: definitely afford to buy a luxury watch that
: is an Omega, Brietling, Rolex or even the
: more expensive one's like Patek, IWC,
: Piaget, Blancpain etc. (so more power to all
: of you!)

: To be honest, Rolex still beats Omega in terms
: of prestige, resale value, and worldwide
: recognition and timeless design (I'm sure
: everyone will agree with me on this)

: At the end of the day, if you can afford to buy
: the best or perceived to be the
: best......... then why not! You only get to
: live once.

: Never settle for second best! Clearly this is
: what Omega is compared to Rolex.

: As I've said in my previous post, I bought an
: Omega Seamaster 2531.80. This was my first
: luxury watch after I retired my Tag. I was
: happy with the watch, but only for a while.
: At the end of the day, I still wanted the
: real thing that is the Submariner. That is
: why I went for it. To date I own 3 Rolex's!
: Probably later on as I get older I might go
: for those Patek's until then I'm happy with
: my Rolex.

: Remember this my fellow watch
: enthusiast's............................................
: A ROLEX WILL ALWAYS BE A ROLEX AND AN OMEGA
: WILL JUST BE AN OMEGA"

: You cannot compare a BMW or Mercedes benz to a
: Ford Falcon or Toyota Camry.
