: Clearly my first post in this forum was
: completely misunderstood.
NO, I THINK WE UNDERSTOOD IT PERFECTLY
: I did not mean to disrespect the whole
: community.
THANKS FOR THE APOLOGY. I THINK I SPEAK FOR MOST HERE THAT OUR FEELINGS WERE NOT HURT BY YOUR POST. WE IN FACT WELCOME YOUR INPUT TO THE FORUM, JUST DISAGREE WITH THE DELIVERY.
: I'm sure that most of you, if not all, can
: definitely afford to buy a luxury watch that
: is an Omega, Brietling, Rolex or even the
: more expensive one's like Patek, IWC,
: Piaget, Blancpain etc. (so more power to all
: of you!)
I CAN CERTAINLY AFFORD ANY OF THOSE LISTED
: To be honest, Rolex still beats Omega in terms
: of prestige, resale value, and worldwide
: recognition and timeless design (I'm sure
: everyone will agree with me on this)
I DONT THINK ANYONE HERE WILL DISAGREE, WITH THE FIRST THREE, HOWEVER, SPEEDY PRO OWNERS WILL HAVE A BEEF WITH THE TIMELESS DESIGN ISSUE.
: At the end of the day, if you can afford to buy
: the best or perceived to be the
: best......... then why not! You only get to
: live once.
PERCEPTION IS NOT ALWAYS REALITY. I SPEAK FOR ONLY MYSELF HERE, BUT I DO NOT SUCCUMB TO THE PERCEIVED BEST. AGAIN, THE SAME REASON I DONT OWN A ROLEX IS THE SAME REASON I HAVE VERY FEW POLO SHIRTS AND DONT HAVE A FANCY CAR. I PREFER NOT TO FLAUNT MY ACCOMPLISHMENTS.
: Never settle for second best! Clearly this is
: what Omega is compared to Rolex.
AGAIN, PERCEPTION IS NOT REALITY, AND I DID NOT SETTLE FOR SECOND BEST. IF THIS IS YOUR THINKING, WHY DID YOU SETTLE FOR A ROLEX? FOR THOSE IN THE KNOW OF WATCHES, CLEARLY VACHERON CONSTANTIN IS A BETTER WATCH. I WOULD MUCH RATHER HAVE ONE OF THOSE. VACHERON OWNERS WOULD SCOFF AT YOUR ASSUMPTIONS.
: As I've said in my previous post, I bought an
: Omega Seamaster 2531.80. This was my first
: luxury watch after I retired my Tag. I was
: happy with the watch, but only for a while.
: At the end of the day, I still wanted the
: real thing that is the Submariner. That is
: why I went for it. To date I own 3 Rolex's!
: Probably later on as I get older I might go
: for those Patek's until then I'm happy with
: my Rolex.
CLEARLY, YOU WANTED A ROLEX IN THE FIRST PLACE, THAT WAS YOUR GOAL. WHEN YOU WERE A TAG OWNER, BY YOUR THINGKING, YOU SETTLED FOR THIRD BEST, AND ACCORDING TO YOU, SETTLED AGAIN WHEN YOU BOUGHT THE OMEGA. NOW YOU COME TO THIS FORUM AND LOOK DOWN ON US FOR NOT BUYING WHAT YOU THINK WE REALLY WANT. SOMETHING ABOUT A POT AND A KETTLE COME TO MIND.
BY THE WAY, WHAT IS MORE REAL ABOUT A SUBMARINER THAN A PLANET OCEAN. AND IF YOU HAVE A SUB NO DATE, ITS NOT EVEN COSC CERTIFIED,AND IT HAS LESS WATER RESISTANCE, YET SLAP A CROWN ON IT, AND ITS REAL? COME ON, GIVE US A BREAK, SAVE YOUR COMMENTS FOR A ROLEX FORUM. WE APPRECIATE ALL FINE WATCHES HERE, INLCUDING ROLEX.
: Remember this my fellow watch
: enthusiast's............................................
: A ROLEX WILL ALWAYS BE A ROLEX AND AN OMEGA
: WILL JUST BE AN OMEGA"
TELL THAT TO NASA. THEY SEEM TO THINK AN OMEGA WILL ALWAYS BE AN OMEGA. OH AND THOSE GAMES THAT COME EVERY COUPLE OF YEARS, I THINK THE OLYMPICS. THEY SEEM TO HAVE A HIGH OPINION OF OMEGA TOO.
: You cannot compare a BMW or Mercedes benz to a
: Ford Falcon or Toyota Camry.
NO ONE HERE HAS COMPARED THOSE, BUT I GUESS YOU THINK A TOYOTA CAMRY IS NOT A "REAL" CAR EITHER. REMEMBER WHEN MERCEDES BENZ KEPT PUTTING OUT THE SAME BODY STYLE YEAR AFTER YEAR AFTER YEAR. I AKIN THAT TO ROLEX. SOONER OR LATER THE OTHER CHOICES BECOME MORE APPEALING. OMEGA IS ONE OF THOSE OTHER CHOICES. WHAT DID WE SEE NEW FROM ROLEX AT BASEL THIS YEAR, SAME AS LAST AND THE YEAR BEFORE THAT AND THE YEAR BEFORE THAT. OMEGA INTRODUCED A SPLIT SECOND DOUBLE COLUMN WHEEL CHRONOGRAPH WITH A MOVEMENT MADE EXCLUSIVELY BY F.PIGUET FOR OMEGA. ONE OF THE FINEST TIMEPIECES I HAVE EVER SEEN.
AS I SAID IN THE SUBJECT, I WILL AGREE TO DISAGREE, BUT DO WELCOME YOUR COMMENTS TO THE FORUM. AS ALWAYS, ROLEX VS OMEGA ALWAYS MAKES FOR A LIVELY DEBATE.
