Re: Ultra-tight bezel
In Response To: Re: Ultra-tight bezel ()

My SMP had the same problem so after a while I tried spray silicon lube, which would give temporary relief. I once cleaned the crystal with toothpaste (as recommended!) and some must have got under the bezel. But that really fouled it up. But with a particularly hard turn it suddenly loosened up to the point where it would turn almost by brushing against clothing. The clicking also became a lot quieter.

After returning from service, Omega changed the ratchet mechanism (looked like one side had broken, although I still had a click per half minute) and now it's back to being fairly stiff - not usable with cold wet hands, like when you're just about to tip off the dive boat! but turns with a solid "click".

The palm method works really well, though. Thanks for relaying that tip, Chuck!
I'll never get toothpaste near it again...
