Re: Carbontime
In Response To: Re: Carbontime ()

: A watchmaker Kari Voutilainen has just produced
: a watch which has almost zero magnetism the
: watch has a carbontime quartz(as in glass)
: balance wheel with a carbon spring Ulysse
: Nardin has produced the Freak which has a
: Nickel Phosphorous escape wheel and lever
: and other swiss companies are looking into
: new substances. What will this mean well I
: would hope that the coaxel would have a
: second gain every month at most which would
: take away the need for qaurtz watches as
: this would make it just as good if not
: better due to the fact that you do not need
: to have the battery replaced. In time we
: will see that watches will not need
: maintainance for 10 years Rolex are already
: fitting seals that last this long so with
: the coaxel and carbontime and so many other
: ideas coming out of Switzerland it will soon
: be a case od a watch is only serviced once
: in its normal life (20years).

Hi Richard, Speaking of Rolex, I purchased my rolex new in 1976 and it started to lose time a little, so i took it to a authorized rolex watch person for the first time since i brought it. Maybe i was just lucky. Being a cheap guy how does a lay person know it a watch repair guy is ripping you off, the cost was a little over $700. Thank you.
