In Response To: Roller Coasters and the SMP ()

: I will soon be going on a vacation to Orlando,
: and I might go to some of the theme parks. I
: was wondering if exposing the SMP to the G
: forces generated by coaters could damage the
: mechanism. Hopefully there’s an engineer or
: physicist among the readers of this forum,
: but I’ll appreciate any input. Thank you.

Look at my post below (linked) but I'd think since most rides are _sustained_ G-forces and not rapid inertia/shock changes, it shouldn't be a concern.

However, security of your watch during your trip should be on your mind... A recent poster in the On The Dash Heuer forum lost his 1960's Heuer Carrera which was in checked luggage in Switzerland. So you might wish to consider wearing a watch you'd lose less sleep over should you be parted from it...

Enjoy Orlando, it's really an amazing place, try to visit Cape Kennedy if you get the chance (it's about an hour by car), for another "Magic Kingdom" on an entirely outworldly scale!
