I have a few watches. MOST have saphire / Mineral crystals. I can choose which watch to wear , when.
Mike it sounds like you also have a few watches, so can make the same decision. & since you are now asking about hesalite I assume that your other watches have saphire/mineral crystals.
If I'm going somewhere that could scratch the glass ( beach, kids playground, playing football with my lad, gardening etc etc ) I tend to wear a divers style watch.
I do however wear my speedmaster a lot. It gets scratches. But, I polish them out myself. It is very easy to do, costs nothing & takes almost no time at all.
There are alternatives.
Autosol - a car polish can also be used.
I wouldn't & haven't let the scratch issue put me off.
I freely admit, I would prefer a saphire version, but the extra cost is just not worth it, to me.
