If you plan on diving, then a rubber or nylon strap would be better able to resist the affects of moisture in general, and especially sea-water. The great thing about straps (be they rubber, leather, etc.) is that they are cheap (unless you get them from Omega, which seems unnecessary), are easy to change, and can drastically change the appearance and effect of the watch (which can be for the better). Leather is dressier, a NATO-style strap can look tough and rugged.
I just got a Bond SMP auto about a month ago, and, once I get really used to the bracelet, will definitely buy other straps.
my $.02
: My Bond SMP is less than a year old, and the
: links on the bracelet have already expanded
: a little. I just find it very annoying to
: have my watch flopping around on my wrist. I
: am considering getting a leather strap
: instead. I like the black strap, but I don’t
: know if it will clash with the blue dial.
: Any comments on this strap issue? Are
: leather straps durable and resistant to sea
: water? I’ll appreciate your responses.
: Thanks
