Re: New SMP accuracy
In Response To: Re: New SMP accuracy ()

: You should keep in mind that this is an Omega
: watch forum where we are free to discuss
: all things Omega, including the accuracy of
: our watches, mechanical or quartz. If you
: don't care to read about these things then
: you don't have to come here.

: I agree that the SMP quartz is a very accurate
: and reliable watch, and I own some Tissot
: Swiss quartz watches that gain one second
: every month and a half or so. However, I
: have also owned cheap Casio watches that
: gained about a second a day, which is no
: better than some of my automatics. So,
: clearly not all quartz watches are created
: equal. Just something to keep in mind before
: criticizing us "mechanical types
: fanatically harping on about accuracy."
: Sorry,No offence meant. I just thought that someone ought to spell out in no uncertain terms that if one is after accuracy, then get the best and most accurate quartz you can afford, not necessarily Omega. If one is anti-quartz and prefer the mechanical movement for whatever reason, then be aware that one has to live with the manufacturer's quoted tolerances and not to be surprised by day to day fluctuations in timekeeping, provided they are within specified tolerances
