You should NEVER screw the crown down tight. You will RUIN the watch. It won't be water-resistant if you break the threads or the base that the crown screws in to!
Always turn it only until it offers decent resistance--THEN STOP!
You probably should take it to a jeweler to have them unscrew it safely and check for what damage you may have done.
