Hi John,
I put links behind the Watch numbers
Watch 1, Germany - says it's a 562 movement. The pic is too blurred to confirm this & the rotor hides any text that may be there. The 562 is not USUALLY a chronometer movement ( 561 or 564 are ) but according to the Excellent RANFFT directory Omega claim that SOME 562's ARE chronometer movements. - who knows with this watch.
I'm not sure that the crown is correct on this watch. I thought the PiePans had "slabsided" crowns. Can anyone else comment on this ?
Watch 2, Canada. it looks to be 100% OK. ( & the bidded price reflects this ) - this is the slab sided crown that I mean. The "stars" on the back of the case are still very visible with sharp edges, showing that the watch hasn't been worn a lot & not over polished. The movement is very clean.
Compare these pics with the pics from Watch 1. you can see what you're getting in Watch 2, you have to guess with Watch 1.
I'm not saying Watch 1 is a lemon, I'm saying there is no doubt with Watch 2
Watch 3 , USA . again it looks OK. (doesn't have the "slab sided" crown. it's VERY possible that I am wrong here )
Watch 4, Yorktime. again it looks OK ( another with a normal crown.... Now I am starting to look like an idiot ! ) - currently the most expensive watch in this selection & it's stainless ! Check out the picture showing the movement... see the pitting just below the upper lugs ? It wouldn't bother me in a watch of this age, but it might bother some other.
Watch 5, Omega-Fanatic - yup looks fine to me. Slab sided crown, attractive fixed price. This watch is in Europe. This may save/cost you some import duty depending on where in the world you live. If you're interested in this one, I'd ask for a couple of more detailed pics. ( BTW the 551 is the non-dated Chronometer movement )
Checking through ALL the watches again, I see that #1 is the only one that has T SWISS MADE T on the dial. The others don't have the T's.
The T's usually signify that the dial has Tritium on the it.
Again I don't know if Pie Pans should have this or not. Can anyone else comment on this ?
OK, you've picked a good selection of watches here. from Stainless to Gold Capped & Solid Gold.
some with date & some without.
I've no Idea how you are, but I wouldn't wear a Gold watch ( I recently sold one of the 2 gold (plated ) watches that I own ) & I prefer a watch with a date.
Before you just buy "any" Pie Pan, I'd work out what best suits you & your tastes/needs. This may help you decide which one to "go for".
I save a LOT of auction pics on my hard drive & write some notes. ( I can't remember everything !).
With the right questions ( & answers ) & a stack of pics, you'll soon get an eye for what is right & what isn't.
I hope this helps.
Steve
