These two models are actually drastically different as far as their movements go. The larger 49mm "pocket watch on a strap" is a manual wind model. The 42mm model is an automatic with the co-axial escapement. The larger 49mm model is NOT co-axial.

It depends on your needs. You need to be a big guy with large wrists to pull off the 49er, and if you don't like to have to wind your watch every other day to keep it wound, then you may not want this model.
