I'm not an expert, however, Miyota is a subsidiary of Citizen. From my experience, Miyota's automatic movements have quality problems, particularly with shock protection.
Seiko's movements are much better built.
Orient used to be an independent company until it came into financial difficulties several years ago. Today, Seiko owns part of the Orient company, although no one seems to know how big a part!?
Orient's automatic movements are "in-house" built.
Check out the Orient "Star" or "Royal Star" lines. In my judgement, the quality is easily comparable to the mid and lower-high-end Swiss brands.
My philosophy is to objectively as possible, try to give credit where credit is due, independently of where a watch is manufactured. Besides, nowadays "Swiss made" can mean that a watch can have up to 50% of its parts come from somewhere else other than Switzerland.
Administrator, please accept my apologies for posting about a topic other than Omega here.
Common man
: Common man,
: Is it Citizen or Seiko that uses Miyota
: movements? In my mind I always kind of
: equated Citizen and Seiko as comparable,
: almost interchangeable, except it seems the
: seikos are usually a little more expensive.
: I guess you get what you pay for, huh? What
: kind of movements does Orient use?
: Thanks!
